WIRED

The Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development initiative (WIRED) was established to create new employment opportunities and increase economic prosperity in southeastern Michigan.

Since April 2006, Southeast Michigan has been participating in WIRED as a virtual region, and in 2007 was invited to submit an implementation plan. This effort resulted in a $5 million grant and Generation 2 designation.

The initiative includes programs to link talent to regional opportunities, provide training to current workforce, retain talent and provide educational opportunities to entrepreneurs.

Programs include:

STEM: Project Lead The Way

Detroit Regional Manufacturing Skills Alliance (DRMSA)

Southeast Michigan Community College Consortium (SMC3)
